N9 Dublin to Waterford

Project Title N9 Dublin to Waterford
   N9
Project Description

This route is one of the major interurban routes (MIUs) due for completion by 2010.

Substantial elements of the route have already been delivered. The section of the road between Waterford City Bypass and Knocktopher, a 23.5km stretch of high quality dual carriageway, officially opened in March 2010.

The section of the road from Kilcullen to Carlow, a 28km stretch of motorway, officially opened in December 2009 ten months ahead of schedule and on budget. The section of the road from Dublin to Kilcullen is also complete.

The N25 Waterford City Bypass opened in October 2009.

The N9/N10 Carlow Bypass, which consists of 18.5km of high quality dual carriageway, was officially opened to traffic in May 2008 on time and within budget.

In 2006, the provision of a third lane in both directions along the N7 from Newlands Cross to Naas removed major bottlenecks and reduced journey times.
