| Project Description |
In January 2007, the Minister announced that the RPA would undertake a feasibility study of a Luas line serving Rathfarnham. |
| Projected Completion Date | 2008 |
| Current Status of Project |
The RPA completed its technical assessment of the feasibility of a Luas line connecting Dundrum to the City Centre via Rathfarnham, Terenure and Harold's Cross and the Agency published this Feasibility Study on 2 May 2008. The study found that development of the line may be feasible, but that its delivery would have considerable adverse impacts and would involve a greater degree of compromise to service and design criteria than has occurred in the development of other Luas lines.
This Feasibility Study is a first step in a process of assessing whether or not the development of a line serving these areas should be pursued. The output of this study will form part of the input into the NTA's new transportation strategy for the Greater Dublin Area, which will be the successor to "A Platform for Change".
